Wood floors are extremely popular because of their beauty and durability. However, flooring eventually wears down or becomes outdated, and when that happens you might want to consider refinishing it.
We use a variety of finishes from waterborne to solvent-based products to ensure that your hardwood floors look as good as new. If your floor has deep scratches or stains, then it may be time to consider giving us a call.
Water-based finishing is quick to dry, long-lasting, and more durable than oil-based. They also tend not to yellow over time. Water-based finishing is also quick to dry and more environmentally friendly while oil-based is thicker, smoother, and less expensive than water-based finishing. We can help guide you through the pros and cons of each so you get the best look for your home.
At Heritage Hardwood Flooring, we provide estimates for your floor so there are no surprises. We guarantee each job, making sure that your hardwood is revitalized, giving you confidence that your floor will be the showpiece of any room.
After we give an estimate, we prepare your floor by ensuring it is completely free of debris and there are no loose or damaged boards that need to be replaced. Next, we sand off the original finish, typically using an orbital sander which provides a superior, even sanding. The installer will then vacuum and dust the floor which prevents an uneven or bumpy finish. The third step is usually to stain with a generous application, allowing the stain to soak into the wood grain. Finally, the finishing coat is applied. This usually takes a couple of days, depending on whether it’s an oil or water-based finish. We then do one final inspection, checking to see the coating has dried properly without any dust or streaks.
When your hardwood floors have seen better days and it is time to get them refinished, we hope you will choose Heritage Hardwood Flooring, Victoria’s best hardwood installation and refinishing company. Give us a call and book your appointment for a free estimate!
